To help the players become nervous, you might mention that no path connects to this statue. Be subtle about it.

A statue of a jaguar: AC6, Move 15”, HD 4+1,
attacks claw/claw/bite 1d3/1d3/1d8,
close combat 2 more attacks
from rear claws of 1d3/1d3

Coming within 10’ of statue changes it into a jaguar.
No treasure.
