A star cluster of 600 or so stars covering a sector.

Legend on the left side.

Added a bit of an update on September 26, 2023.

October 11, 2018: Level 02 through Level 07 are completed. I notice that there are some sub-sectors that are isolated. I may add more stars to this cluster, I may not.

The problem that remains is to represent this in 3 dimensions.

I envisioned the ship as being large enough that if they got lost, they would be able to grow their own food, expand their population, survive being lost. Of course, any civilization progressed enough to build this, would also have mapped all of the globular clusters in their galaxy and nearby galaxies, so getting lost would be almost impossible.

Each deck, would mostly, be standardized. Ten feet from deck to ceiling, 5 feet between decks for pipes, cables, etc. Several standard size and shape rooms for living quarters, but a few on each deck had changable and movable walls when a bit of variety was needed to alleviate boredom.

Elevators would be a problem… the sheer size of the starship precluded ordinary elevators. The cables certainly couldn’t handle being miles long, they would break under their own weight.

So, I decided if the starship was going to be impossible to make due to needing breakthroughs in present day science, the elevators could be moved around by ‘gravitic’ controls. And each deck would have its own gravity generators. Some rooms would have the ability to modify their atmosphere and gravity if non-Earth folks wanted to join the journey.

Back of the upper ‘arm’ connecting the cylinder body and the upper saucer, would be a docking bay large enough to house starships up to a mile wide and half mile in length, and various shuttle craft.

In the front of each saucer shape section would be a huge observation deck of several levels.

I have Campaign Cartographer 3+ and all add-ons for it. New planet maps will be made with FT3.5.

I’ve decided on this ship type’s speed in this game universe.

9.2 days to travel 1 light year, or 1 parsec in 30 days

November 8, 2013

This was orginally done using Campaign Cartographer 2 with Cosmographer Pro Add-on. I now have version 3 of both. Probably I’ll redo it.

I’ll add more info later.

I added some wormholes for transportation to this Sector. I am considering them Ancient Technology, not done by Grandfather.

hexagon location 0205 to 2317 is 21.5 light years. The journey is one-way from 0205 to 2317.

hexagon location 2317 to 0723 is 15 light years. The journey is one-way from 2317 to 0723.

hexagon location 1534 to 2317 is 18.4 light years. The journey is two-way

hexagon location 0733 to 1534 is 7 light years. The journey is two-way

hexagon location 2633 to 3317 is 5.6 light years. The journey is three-way which means there is a slight chance to be transported to one of the other wormholes.

Wormhole travel times:

a) 21.5 lyrs, 6.6 pc; b) 18.4 lyrs, 5.6 pc; c) 15 lyrs, 4.6 pc; d) 7 lyrs, 2.15 pc; e) 5.6 lyrs, 1.72 pc; 1 parsec = 3.26 lyrs

Wormholes are equivalent speed to Jump 2, i.e. 2 parsecs per week.

a) 3.3 weeks of travel; 3 weeks 2 days

b) 2.8 weeks of travel; 2 weeks, 5 days, 14 hours

c) 2.3 weeks of travel; 2 weeks, 2 days

d) 1.1 weeks of travel; 1 week, 1 day

e) 0.86 weeks of travel; 6 days

As a work of fiction, how could these be created ? Well, documentaries I’ve watched state that it would take negative energy to hold the wormhole open… and negative energy doesn’t exist.

However, there is dark matter and dark energy. According to a documentary I have watched, they stated that dark matter is moving the galaxies apart. Doesn’t that mean that dark matter is countering gravity ? Wouldn’t that make it negative energy ? I don’t know.
